2013-14 Athlete Funding and Support
Did you know that eligible high performance Judo BC athletes can apply for funding from the BC Athlete Assistance Program and for support from Canadian Sport Centre Pacific? For all the details and the application forms click here. The deadline to apply is for both of these programs is Thursday, August 29th.

BC Judoka at Deaflympics in Sofia, Bulgaria
Marco Chiaramonte of Burnaby Judo Club is currently in Sofia, Bulgaria preparing to compete in the 22nd Deaflympics. Read all about Marco in this press release from the BC Deaf Sports Federation and follow the action on the 2013 Deaflympics website.

Judo BC Athletes to World Championships
Congratulation to the following BC Judokas for being selected to represent Canada at the upcoming Cadet (U18) World Championships in Miami Florida August 8 - 11 and the Junior (U21) World Championships in Ljublijana, Slovenia October 24 - 27:

Abby Lloyd, U18 -48kg, Sunshine Coast Judo Club
Jeff Swadden, U18 +90kg, Abbotsford Judo Club
Sam Kim, U18 -90kg Burnaby Judo Club
Brandon Jobb, U21 -90kg, Abbotsford Judo Club

Any clubs looking to sell used mats?
Several people have contacted the Judo BC office in the past few weeks looking to purchase used tamami mats. If any clubs have mats they are interested selling please contact the Judo BC office.

Canadian Judo Championships 2015 and Beyond
Judo Canada is currently accepting applications to host the Championships in 2015 and subsequent years. If your club/region is interested in hosting please review the guidelines and application form below.

Sport Development Director
Judo BC is continuing it’s search for an outstanding person to help lead the Development of the organization. Reporting to the Volunteer Board of Directors for Judo BC, the Sport Development Director (SDD) is responsible for contributing to and enacting the strategic plan developed by the Board of Directors and helping our member clubs develop Judo in their area. They will also act as Head Coach for Judo BC, organizing the annual plan and working with volunteer regional coaches and athletes. Candidates who have previously applied for this position are welcome to resubmit their resume and cover letter.
