Ushiro Goshi

Ushiro Goshi is called the reverse hip thow and involves entering and loading Uke on the hip by pulling him hard toward your side. Ushiro-goshi is usually performed as a counter technique. To perform this from a stationary position, you need to be behind uke, and use your hips to lift your partner into the air then direct them to the floor with your hands. Tori pulls his upper body tight against Uke’s back and controls him in a straight and upright posture, as Tori steps in and drives his hip
upward. He lifts Uke up and as he brings his one leg back, he creates a space in front of himself and throws Uke down.

Demonstrations of correct bio mechanical actions and positioning for the technique, breaking of balance, entry and completion of the waza. The Tsuri Goshi is a related waza to be covered in lesson plan.

  • Lesson discussed and demonstrated the Key Points (Yoten).
  • Also discussed and demonstrated are significant areas of concern that would allow Uke to counter Tori
