"It is a high level tournament for our aspiring judoka and most divisions are filled with mid to top level US athletes. The results speak for themselves, showing we are on the right path for training and development in BC. All our athletes fought tremendously hard with everyone coming home with medals. The Sensei memorial Judo Tournament was a well-run tournament with great hospitality and mid to high level players. I highly recommend this event a preparation for nationals and for exposure to out of province events."

~ Kane Morishita (Team Coach)

WHERE:  PISE, 4371 Interurban Road
PRESENTED BY:  Island Savings Credit Union

"We are very excited to announce that the 5th annual Island Savings Family Sport and Recreation Festival – A Celebration of Physical Literacy Fun for the Family will be at PISE on Saturday, May 3, 2014, and we invite local sport and active living organizations to be a part of it. The primary purpose is to inspire families to be more active, and to encourage youngsters to be more physically literate by getting involved in sports and recreational activities. It is a chance for kids to be introduced to new opportunities at the club and community level, and for parents to learn more about keeping their kids engaged in healthy activities.
We would like to invite you to participate by providing an interactive station/activity for children of all ages to try, while at the same time promoting your services and helping to build a healthier and more physically literate community.

There is no cost to participate, and free for families to attend! Please register using the following link:

ViaSport Unviels Social Media Toolkit
If you're working for a Provincial Sports Organization (PSO), Multi Sports Organization (MSO), club or other sports organization, you probably don't have a lot of time on your hands. You're making do with just a few staff members, some of whom may be volunteers and have a small or non-existent communications budget.

That's where we come in. As a result of a sector-wide Communications Survey sent out earlier this year, ViaSport's Communications Task Team is working to identify tools and resources that can enhance communications in the BC sport sector.
The first communications tool — a sector-wide Social Media Toolkit — is intended to help the BC sport sector navigate the confusing and rapidly evolving world of social media.
The Toolkit is a collaborative effort between BC Wheelchair Sports and ViaSport, financially supported by the Province of BC. With over 30 modules in design, the Toolkit will offer step-by-step instructions on how to incorporate social media into your communication strategy. The first two introductory modules launched November 20, followed by one module every second Wednesday in the ViaSport bi-weekly newsletter.
